Having an FAA Air Agency Certificate in our Business is like having a Phd. Certificate hanging on your wall or an ATP license in your wallet. It shows the world you are qualified in your field.
The FAA insures the American Public that Pilots participating in Part 121 (Scheduled Airline) operations hold an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) Certificate and a Type Rating in the Specific Aircraft operated. In other words the FAA wants to know that the person flying the thing knows exactly what the heck he or she is doing. One Word SAFETY....
It won't be long before the FAA mandates Certification to clean Airplanes. When that happens a Manual could indeed become very valuable.
